Description
The poster is based on a detailed photograph of a pair of Jangsing - traditional Korean totems carved from wood, which were once placed at the entrances to villages. Their role was twofold: to scare away evil demons (hence their faces are deliberately grotesque, with bulging eyes and large teeth) and to serve as guardians or distance markers between settlements.
