The Thessaloniki Commission (1947) was established at the insistence of the Greek government during the height of the Greek Civil War (1946–1949). Its primary task was to investigate Athens' allegations that its northern communist neighbors - Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, and Albania - were providing illicit military, logistical, and financial aid to Greek communist partisans (the Democratic Army of Greece). It included representatives from all eleven nations that were members of the UN Security Council at the time (including the USA, the USSR, Great Britain, and France).
